December 18th: Stay by M H E Priest

Post Sweet Revenge

Starsky watched every single move Hutch made as he packed his duffle bag with the last of his clothes. Watched with trepidation… hopelessness… fear. He came close to upchucking the acid lake in his stomach when he saw and heard the zipper close.

“There! All packed except for the usual change of clothes,” Hutch said a lot more cheerfully than Starsky cared for. Continue reading “December 18th: Stay by M H E Priest”

December 10th: Crisco Disco by ACL (actingcamplibrarian)

Looking back, Starsky blamed Lieutenant Berkowitz’s new baby grandson for the mess he found himself in with Hutch.

It was no secret that new life had a tendency to send shockwaves into the world. Jostle the existing folks around to make space for itself. Mess with the status quo. Just… sometimes those ripples went further than seemed reasonable, and this particular outcome was pretty far from family-friendly.

Berkowitz, every inch the proud grandfather, had been handing out cigars at the precinct that afternoon, and Hutch had stashed two in his jacket pocket — Starsky’s jeans pockets being useless for holding anything but his house keys, and if Starsky was honest he had a hard time extracting even those when he got home at the end of the day. At least the keys weren’t likely to fall out in some back alley during a chase, and they were safer in his pocket than leaving them above his front door like some people he could mention. December 8th: The Answer by M H E Priest

Tag to Starsky’s Lady

Author’s Note: Thanks to MatSir for the suggestions.

Knowing it would never be a good time to ask this particular question, I did so anyway. “So, Starsk, did you ever ask Terry to marry you?”

He stopped separating the money into piles. “Yeah, I did, right before she was discharged.” He returned to his task, never once looking at me.

“You wanna talk about it, buddy?”

He finally looked at me, shot me his apologetic smile. “Yeah, I do. Sorry I never told you before. Guess I was still kinda… shocked.” Continue reading “December 8th: The Answer by M H E Priest”

December 23rd: A Holiday Mystery by m. butterfly

December 20

Hutch hated everything about Christmas — including surprises of any kind.

He’d just finished blending his breakfast concoction when someone knocked. He assumed it was his better half, who must have had the traffic fairies on his side for a change.

“It’s not locked, Starsk. C’mon in.”

When Starsky didn’t burst in right away, Hutch headed for the door to investigate. But he didn’t open it.

“It’s too early to be pulling one of your stupid stunts, if that’s what you’re doing,” he warned. “Starsky?”

Silence was the only answer he got.

It then occurred to him that he hadn’t heard the red and white clown car pull up to the curb in front of the building. Now in full detective mode, Hutch slowly drew his weapon and eased the door open. Continue reading “December 23rd: A Holiday Mystery by m. butterfly”
