Ooooh, a Starsky & Hutch podcast! As a fan of both Starsky & Hutch and podcasts, I’m so excited you guys are doing this! (insert flailing emoji) And you do it so well, too! It was a lot of fun listening to you guys talk about the show and what you like about it, and pretty interesting, too. (I’d never heard of those friendship necklaces before, but I think they might just be part of my headcanon now…) At some points, I even almost wanted to join in the conversation myself. XD

I can’t tell you how happy I am that there are people like you who like both S&H and podcasts and are willing to give us a listen. I’ve been wanting to do a podcast for awhile and since my friends and I talk so much about S&H anyway it seemed like a natural choice of topic. I’m so glad you found us entertaining! We’ve already recorded a second episode, so that should be out in a few weeks.

This was very entertaining and funny! Starsky as “The fresh prince of Belaire” hilarious and a good plot bunny too! At the end you mention how you chose your name. My first S&H fanfic was “Mizpah & Star Wars” and in it Starsky’s Ma sends him and Hutch Mizpah keyrings. I can’t tell what a thrill I got hearing you mention it! (If it’s the same one you read on AO3.)

The first time heard Me and Thee, I thought Mizpah is what Starsky was referring to. I bought my first pair of keyrings in 1976 at a truck stop on the road. In 1978 I bought a sterling silver pair for my future hub and we still have them. Three years ago I gave my best friend and S&H buddy, Spencer, half of a vintage set (found on ETSY) like in my fic. Me and Thee keychains and necklaces are beautiful and thoughtful gifts, like your podcast.

Yes, your fic was what I was referring to, and from where I learned about Mizpah jewelry. Thank you for linking your fic! When we finally get things running on our WordPress site, we’ll definitely put up a link to it next to this episode if you don’t mind. As you can tell, I’m still really taken with the idea of Mizpah keyrings as the source of “me and thee”, and I loved hearing about your personal connection to the keyrings.

I laughed so hard at your Watson quote! It certainly wasn’t my intention to have a secret identity, but since my friends were going by their given names, it felt strange to go by “Garrideb” in the podcast, so I now have an official fandom presence as Monica for the first time, ha!
I know authors are the hardest on their own writing, but I don’t think you have anything to cringe about regarding “Mizpah and Star Wars”. I love that fic!
My first reaction to this was joy at having such ‘young blood’ in the fandom. Thank you. And I’m happy to have a dedicated podcast for us. I have listened to other fan fic podcasts, but just couldn’t get into them. It seemed like everything they mentioned was – well, out of my demographics? – and I’d lose interest. I’d love to hear more! Will you have a tip jar to defray costs?

Nice treat that you have shared. The experience of listening is so different thank reading. I recall the first time I listened to a S&H story. It was one I had already read more than once. I thought it was going to be a waste of time to listen to it. But I was wrong. Ther were many nuances that I found in listening that I would never have found in reading. Well done!
I think maybe this comment was meant for Hardboiledbaby’s podfic. Considering we’re the two audio-only gifts, the mix-up makes sense!
