December 13th- Christmas Thoughts by David Starsky by Lapfordlass

I long for Christmas all year round;
For snow to fall without a sound;
To see the lights and mistletoes
And “folks dressed up like Eskimos”.

I love the sound of “Jingle bells”,
And decorations, and the smells
That make my season full of cheer.
I try to keep it all the year.

He doesn’t like the phony sights
Of money spent on twinkly lights.
He thinks about the poor and sad
And how for some there is no ‘glad’.

He misses folks, those long since gone,
Who used to fill his childhood home;
Who gave him hugs that were enough
And made the season bright with love.

I understand why he’s a Grinch.
I know he’s got a heart too big.
He tells me that it’s all a fake
Yet gets me presents anyway.

We’ll sing the carols, Christmas Eve,
And put the popcorn on the tree.
We’ll share the Day with each dear friend
‘Cause love’s what matters in the end.

December 13th- Christmas 1985 by KiraBerlin

Author’s Note: This is an excerpt from a story I am currently writing. Hutch had a daughter, Amelia, with a woman he briefly knew, but the mother killed herself shortly after the birth of the baby. This is when Starsky and Hutch found their love for each other. With the child and Starsky in his life, Hutch needed to find a new place to live and he and Starsky decided to buy a house together near his old place on the canals. They raise the child together. Even outwardly Amelia is both their daughter: She’s got Hutch’s blond hair and Starsky’s curls. Starsky is the one who has been able to calm the little girl down from day one. This chapter starts a few days before Christmas Day.

“Hey there, what’s for dinner?”

Starsky walked in the door of the Venice bungalow and threw his jacket over the hook behind the door.

“Daddy!” The curly haired blonde 4-year-old came running from the kitchen. Continue reading “December 13th- Christmas 1985 by KiraBerlin”

December 12th – A Better Outlook by DPPatricks

Author’s Note: This gen story comes from a current real life personal experience of the author’s which fit with the 10/31/20 Friday Fiction Prompt on the Starsky&Hutch Fans&FanFiction FaceBook page. The prompt sentence is underlined, below.

 December, 2020

“Didn’t mean to wake you, Starsk.”

“Wasn’t asleep.”

“Just wanted to see how you’re doing.”

“What you see is what you get.”

“I didn’t hear you run to the bathroom, so the chicken broth and rice must have stayed down.”

“So far.” Continue reading “December 12th – A Better Outlook by DPPatricks”

December 11th- ‘Cause Somewhere in the Crowd, There’s You by Dawnwind

Sequel to Ding-Dong the Bitch is Dead: https://archiveofourown.org/works/200279

I was sick and tired last night when I called you from Glasgow…

Opening the package that had been propped on his front door before he got inside, Starsky almost dropped the other contents when he saw the scrawled signature on the Christmas card.

Hutchinson.

The man on the album cover was bent over a piano, one hand spread to make a chord with thumb, middle finger and pinkie. The other hand was curled around a bottle of rye. Possibly in imitation, Starsky knocked back a tumbler of Johnny Walker, listening to the record multiple times, particularly the title track, a cover of ABBA’s Super Trouper. December 10th- The Gifts of the Starsky by Lapfordlass

 Christmas 1972

Starsky came into the squad room carrying a tall cardboard box, which he placed carefully on his desk and then proceeded to pull out a small Christmas tree. It was a live miniature pine in a bright red pot and was already decorated with tiny baubles and the thinnest tinsel Hutch had ever seen. The pine scent filled the room and instantly made it smell like Christmas.

“Starsky?”

“Yeah?” Starsky responded automatically, as he moved the box to the floor and then repositioned his tree until it looked just right.

“Starsky. It’s December sixth.”

Starsky sat down on his chair and looked at his desk with satisfaction. “So?”

“You know the latest department memo said no decorations until Monday the eleventh. Two weeks before Christmas, no earlier.” Continue reading “December 10th- The Gifts of the Starsky by Lapfordlass”

December 10th- Hanukkah Drabbles by Curlew

44 Candles

“Huggy’s?”

“Think I’ll go home.”

“You OK?”

“Yeah. Just…. Fine. See you tomorrow.”

Hutch looked after him uncertainly, then settled down to paperwork.

In five minutes, he was out the door, and in two hours, he was at Starsky’s, laden with parcels.

“What’s all this?”

“No idea — Avram took me shopping. You looked kinda blue, and when I checked the calendar…. Careful, that’s the… menorah? Is that right? Why do we need 44 candles? Starsk, I know I’m not family….”

Starsky hugged him. “You’re a great substitute! Wow — sufganiyot!”

“Avram insisted. Trust you to have a faith that involves donuts”

A Hanukkah Miracle

“Hutch, you don’t look Jewish, but there must be an ancestor somewhere…”

“You know I love applesauce — and those pancakes…”

“Latkes”

“…are delicious! Anyway. Why 44 candles?”

“If you light one the first day, Einstein, and two the second for eight days…”

“Oh, yeah. And eight days?”

“When the Maccabees purified the Temple, one day’s worth of oil burned for eight. A miracle. That’s why Hanukkah food’s fried in oil.”

“You made that up. To get more donuts.”

Sufganiyot. Hutch….”

“Yeah?”

“You’re looking kinda like a miracle to me.”

With a wide eyed inevitability, they drew together in the candlelight.
