A song parody, sung to the tune of the Christmas Classic, Baby It’s Cold Outside, originally written by Frank Loesser (1944), and inspired by the version performed by John Schneider and Tom Wopat of The Dukes of Hazzard called, Johnny It’s Cold Outside. Basically this is a parody of a parody of a parody.
Here is the music vid that inspired me.
(Hutch is in blue, Starsky is in purple)
I really can’t stay
But, Blondie, it’s cold outside
I’ve got to go away
But, it’s really comin’ down out there
This evening has been
Been hoping that you’d drop in
So very nice
You brought the beer and it’s on ice
Vanessa will start to worry
Blondie, what’s your hurry?
I bet she will be pacing the floor
She don’t deserve one thought more
So really I’d better scurry
I’d love to watch you scurry
Well, maybe just half a glass more
Put some records on while I pour
The neighbors might think
Blondie, it’s bad out there
Say what’s in this drink?
The roads will be closed out there
I wish I knew now
Your eyes are like starlight now
What tale to tell
I’m sure you have some story to sell
I ought to say no, no, no, sir
Mind if I move in closer
At least I’m gonna say that I tried
What’s the sense of hurting my pride?
I really can’t stay
Blondie, don’t hold out
[Both] Babe, it’s cold outside
I simply must go
Blondie, it’s cold outside
Starsk! The answer is no
Blondie, it’s cold outside
The welcome has been
How lucky that you dropped in
So nice and warm
Look out the window at the storm
Dobey will be suspicious
Don’t you think this pizza’s just scrumptious?
Babcock will be watching the door
And we could always order some more
And Simmons’ mind is vicious
Damn, your lips look delicious
Well maybe just a half a slice more
Never such a tropical storm
I got to get home
But, Blondie, you’d freeze out there
What? It’s sixty degrees!
You’ll blow out to sea out there
You’ve really been grand
I thrill when you touch my hand
But don’t you see?
How can you do this thing to me?
Starsk! I gotta go home
You can’t drive your squash out there
Come on, give me my keys
You’re risking your ass out there
This evening’s been great
I want you to play my guitar
But don’t you see?
And sing a love song just for me
There’s bound to be talk tomorrow
Think of my lifelong sorrow
At least there will be plenty implied
If you caught pneumonia and died
I really can’t stay
Get over that old doubt
[Both] Babe, it’s cold
[Both] Babe, it’s cold outside
Hutch, you know you ain’t goin’ nowhere tonight.
I know, Starsk, I know.

I love the way you adopt & adapt songs. I don’t know if I could survive a long car trip with you, Mvernet, but it’d be fun to try.
Actually, I did survive a long car trip with her – it was hoot! I’m ready to do it again any day.
I do tend to sing loudly and yell out the windows. I like to ride in cars.
Well, I yell out the windows, but it’s usually accompanied by hand gestures.
WONDERFUL parody of a parody of a parody, mvernet!
Thank you so much. I love parodys!
I make them up all the time. I especially like Christmas carol parodys like, Ding, fries are done, Jingle bells, batman smells and Walking round in woman’s underwear, to name a few classics.
Again, great work by Flamingo and her Elves on the pic!!
Perfect, perfect, perfect!
Love it! Very clever! I’ll think of this now whenever I hear the usual version. Thanks for the advent ?!!
That is a great compliment! Thank you!
This is perfect! You’ve outdone yourself. Yep, I’ll be thinking of this every time I hear the “other” version. “Dobey will be suspicious/Don’t you think this pizza’s just scrumptious?” Hahaha
Glad I could make you laugh. The song is just perfect for them.
So cute! Lots of smiles. Thank you so much!
You are very welcome. Thanks for getting my strange sense of humor.
Lots and lots and LOTS of smiles here, mvernet. As others have said, I’ll never be able to hear that song again without transferring your lyrics. Inspired! And, Elves, you’ve done it again: the PERFECT image. Merry Christmas, everyone!
I love to make people smile. Glad you liked it! They play that song on the Christmas muzac in the stores all the time so now you won’t get bored! (is muzac still a thing? I’m getting old.)
Excellent. Smiling here. Well done. And perfect piccie from the Elves. Thank you all for this wonderful gift.
Thank you! More smiles. The world needs more smiles.
Fun, fun, fun. “maybe just half a slice more” – love that one. Too stinking cute. Great job!
Stinking cute! I love you. That’s just what it is.
Great job!! Thank you for your wit and ability to do this.
Well maybe just a half-a-wit.
Thanks!
Love this parody of a parody! Made me laugh out loud! So sweet and of course a great picture of the guys by Flamingo at the end. Hutch, you’re staying put buddy. Thanks mvernet and Merry Christmas!
You’re welcome. And Merry Christmas to you!
What a marvelous idea! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you. After I heard the Dukes of Hazard parody, I couldn’t get it out of my head.
This is wonderful! I love a good parody. Very clever.
And this is nothing like a good parody… Thank you for your compliment!
Made me laugh as I sang it,
Singing along! That is awesome. Thank you!
HAHAHA! I was singing along with this.
Great job (except for mention Vanessa LOL)
You can join my I hate all the wives and girlfriends of S&H club.
Now I’ll have that in my brain all day. Love–Simmons mind is vicious. lol
Thank you! It was stuck in my head for a week till I wrote it out. Maybe I found a cure for earworms. Write a parody!
“What? It’s sixty degrees!”
Ahahaha! This is one of my favorite songs of the season, and I love what you’ve done to it. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, baby! I decided to change the song for California. Glad you liked it!
Hihi, that’s cute! Love it! Thanks for sharing!
This is really special, I sang along for the whole thing. Really enjoyed it, gave me some long past holiday smiles.
