December 6th- Christmas Eve by judithg41

T’was the night before Christmas
And all through the town
Not a creature was stirring,
No crimes going down.

Starsky hung his stocking
On the hook on the wall,
And quietly hoped
For that one special call.

Then he lit up the candle
And turned off the light,
He walked to the window
And stared into the night.

From every house window
And every house door
Were garlands and lights
From ceiling to floor.

Then from out on the stairs
Came a crash, and a din,
He opened the door
His face wore a grin.

The egg nog was made,
And laid out on a table
Were freshly made cookies,
And a present with label.

His friend Hutch came in
Guitar in his hand,
Together they’d sing
For peace in the land.

Another knock came
Starsky opened the door,
Huggy’s face wore a smile
As broad as before.

The three now together
They shared of the feast,
Of crimes and of bad guys
They cared not the least.

Tonight was for happiness
Shared among friends,
Not one of them wanted
The evening to end.

Then, came the ringing,
Of the phone, on the wall.
“Hey Ma! Merry Christmas,”
As he answered the call.

Midnight came quickly.
The three drank a toast
To those who are absent,
To those we love most.

Then Starsky called out
As he switched off the light,
“Merry Christmas to all,
And to all a Good Night.”

Am I the only one smiling WITH tears in my eyes?

That was so adorable and sweet. Thanks for writing this.

At first, I was worried that Starsky was going to spend Christmas Eve alone, and was so delighted when Hutch and Huggy showed up (as I should have known they would).

I’m assuming klutzy Hutch tripped on the stairs, lol.

And Flamingo and the elves did a great job with the graphic – love the pinwheel cookies and eggnog on the table, their names on the stockings, Starsky carrying the present.
