December 19th- Bay City Christmas by Lapfordlass

Through the season, bells will ring.
Folks dress up and carols sing,
Trees are dressed with candy canes,
Lights and tinsel, popcorn chains.
Everywhere, you’ll see the holly.
Without a doubt – Starsky’s jolly!

On the streets, the homeless try
Finding shelter, keeping dry,
Dirty faces, lonely eyes,
Hoping for the gift of smiles.
Their suffering is all too much
And helps to make a grumpy Hutch.

A helping hand is deserved;
Doors thrown open, hot meals served;
Blond and brunet, side by side,
Help to cheer this Christmas tide.
They’re sharing Christmas, Starsky and Hutch,
Because gifts of friendship mean so much.

‘Round the world, angels winging
Seeking joy, care and giving,
Spying thoughtful love and pity
On the streets of our Bay City:
This simple seasonal reminder
To leave the world a little kinder.

December 16th- Courage by Curlew

The little Christmas tree sparkled bravely at the door of the Dismas Centre. Inside, there was a murmur of voices.

“Ready?”

Hutch shivered. “Can’t do this”

“You can. Go round the back — wait for the signal. I’ll be out front. We’ve gone over it.”

“I know, but…”

“Go!”

“But…”

Starsky pushed him towards the back door, swallowing his own apprehension. This operation just couldn’t go wrong — too much depended on it.

Inside, the murmuring stilled. Silence for too long — Starsky’s heart sank. Then, soaring sweet and true came the sound he was waiting for.

“Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht….”

Starsky smiled.

December 22nd- Christmas Jokes with “Stan” and “Ollie” by Daisy Morgan

Starsky: “Ollie?”
Hutch: “Yes, Stanley?”
Starsky: “How’s about we tell Captain Dobey some funny Christmas jokes? He looks like he could use a laugh.”
Hutch: “That’s a good idea, Stanley. Why don’t you go first?”
Starsky: “OK, I will. [Clears throat]…Why do mummies like the holidays so much?”
Hutch: “I don’t know, Stanley. Why?”
Starsky: “Because they’re into all the wrapping.”

Dobey: [groans]

Hutch: “I’ve got one, Stanley! Knock, knock.”
8Starsky: “Who’s there?”
Hutch: “Pizza.”
Starsky: “Pizza, who?”
Hutch: “Pizza on earth, good will toward men!”

Dobey:

Starsky: “Say, Ollie… I think Cap’n Dobey looks a little grumpy today. Hey, what does a grumpy sheep say at Christmas?”
Hutch: “What?”
Starsky: “Baaaa humbug!”

Dobey: [rolls eyes]

Hutch: “Stanley, where do snowmen keep their money?”
Starsky: “Beats me, Ollie.”
Dobey: “I’d like to beat the [censored] outta both of you!”
Hutch: [ignores Dobey] “In a snow bank!”

Starsky: “Why are Christmas trees so fond of the past?”
Hutch:
“Why?”
Starsky:
“Because the present’s beneath them.”

Dobey:

Starsky: “Ollie, I don’t think he likes these jokes. How about this one — What does Santa say at the start of a race?”
Hutch: “I don’t know, Stanley.”
Starsky: “Ready, set, Ho! Ho! Ho!”

Dobey: [checks his watch]

Hutch: “Oh, Stanley?”
Starsky: “Yes, Ollie?”
Hutch: “What are you giving Captain Dobey for Christmas?”
Starsky: “A list of everything I want!”

Dobey:

Starsky & Hutch: “Merry Christmas, Cap’n!”

Dobey: “Merry Christmas, boys.”

Starsky, Hutch, and Dobey: “Merry Christmas, everyone!”

December 13th- Christmas Thoughts by David Starsky by Lapfordlass

I long for Christmas all year round;
For snow to fall without a sound;
To see the lights and mistletoes
And “folks dressed up like Eskimos”.

I love the sound of “Jingle bells”,
And decorations, and the smells
That make my season full of cheer.
I try to keep it all the year.

He doesn’t like the phony sights
Of money spent on twinkly lights.
He thinks about the poor and sad
And how for some there is no ‘glad’.

He misses folks, those long since gone,
Who used to fill his childhood home;
Who gave him hugs that were enough
And made the season bright with love.

I understand why he’s a Grinch.
I know he’s got a heart too big.
He tells me that it’s all a fake
Yet gets me presents anyway.

We’ll sing the carols, Christmas Eve,
And put the popcorn on the tree.
We’ll share the Day with each dear friend
‘Cause love’s what matters in the end.

“Just wanted to see how you’re doing.”

“What you see is what you get.”

“I didn’t hear you run to the bathroom, so the chicken broth and rice must have stayed down.”

“So far.” Continue reading “December 12th – A Better Outlook by DPPatricks”
