December 18th- A Hallmark Christmas for Starsky and Hutch Part 1 by M Vernet

Author’s Note: Come on. Admit it. You’ve all watched those Hallmark Channel Christmas Romance movies. Whether they make you sigh, or make you laugh, or make you chuck popcorn at your romance deficient partner, we all wish to see Starsky and Hutch up there on the screen with the happy snowflakes melting on their lashes and the holiday kisses on the ice rink, right?

This is an AU romantic fantasy, where Starsky and Hutch meet in a different way than canon.

“Come on, Captain Nolan, you can’t be serious!”

“Oh, I’m quite serious, Starsky and you are definitely the man for the job. Besides, it’s your turn.”

Detective Second Class, Dave Starsky of Bay City Vice Squad slumped in the chair opposite his captain’s desk. He knew he didn’t stand a chance of getting out of this assignment, but he had to give it the old Starsky try.

“I know it’s my turn. I’m all for holiday charity and what not. But Cap. This… this event. It’s not me.” Continue reading

Starsky knew he was pushing his limit, but the warm salt water pool in the BCPD gym was just what he needed after too much time away from its therapeutic benefit. Almost four weeks of not playing fish while his latest wounds healed had taken a toll on him, both physically and mentally. He hadn’t realized how much he depended on swim therapy not only for keeping his right arm and shoulder flexible but for time to think and how his movement through the womb-like water had become his own brand of meditation.

He switched effortlessly from the crawl to the butterfly, actually enjoying the slight pull over the new wounds. He snickered, remembering his comment years ago about Hutch eating butterfly bones. That was a much simpler time.

The latest in their increasingly complicated lives was the last call they answered–a domestic disturbance. Every cop hated those, along with traffic stops, because both were much more dangerous to their well-being than almost any other incident.

Instead of falling into meditation mode, he ran over in his mind yet again about what they could have, should have, done differently on that call. Continue reading

December 17th- Swing Shift Part 1 by Spencer

Author’s Notes: Inspired by the events portrayed in the 2018 movie Green Book, written by Nick Vallelonga, Brian Hayes Currie, and Peter Farrelly.

Chapter One

New York City, early October 1976

Trouble was brewing at an over-crowded table on the far side of the club. Dave Starsky had a sixth sense about these kinds of things. It was what he got paid for – to weed out the riff raff, stop problems before they started – and he was damn good at his job. Joe Durniak hired only the best for his nightclub, Swing Shift, which happened to be riding high on the current disco wave.

As Durniak often reminded Starsky, he wanted Swing Shift to draw the beautiful people the way that Studio 54 did. Starsky was to strictly enforce the code of at least one woman for every three men. Durniak didn’t want his crown jewel to be used by unsavory types who acted out perversions to throbbing beats in the dark, he’d say with a snarl of disgust. Durniak only wanted the people who came to be seen. To show off. And most importantly, to spend money. Continue reading

December 16th- David by DP Patricks

Starsky and I had arrested Thomas Dresden that morning, with enough incontrovertible evidence to create a cheerfulness in the D.A.’s office usually only seen at Christmas. As a result, our captain, Harold Dobey, was so pumped up, he was babbling through the phone’s receiver I held to my ear. I could barely get a word in edgewise.

“Uh… yes, Captain… yes, sir, I’ll be sure to tell Starsky… as soon as he gets out of the shower…Yeah, that wine vat was handy but he and Dresden were in it so long, it’s taking some time, and a whole bar of Lava soap, to cut through the stain…. Yes, sir, I’m afraid so, his clothes are a total loss…. No, sir, I don’t think he really cares right now…. Yes, sir…” Continue reading
